JUNE  2008

    Dear Praying Friends and Family,

Church-Van-bamenda-for-prayTo say that we have been overwhelmed and humbled by your outpouring of generosity and support for our new church van would be the understatement of the year!  Early last week, one of our preacher boys and I drove down to the sea-port city of Douala. Douala is the largest city in Cameroon, and all imported vehicles for the entire country enter through this city. For three days we prayerfully shopped for a suitable vehicle for our ministry.  God directed our steps, and by Thursday evening we purchased a nice four wheel drive church van for our Bamenda ministries!  Thank you to all who prayed and sacrificially gave so that this project could become a reality.

The next day we drove to the International Airport of Yaounde and picked up our coworkers, the Yeiter family.  We have missed them tremendously during their furlough, and we were so happy to be able to throw their 17 plus bags into the back of our new church van and drive home the next day.  What a blessing this vehicle has already proven to be.  Today was our first Sunday back, and we were able to carry 19 people! Praise the Lord.  Next week we are having a combined van ministry planning meeting for Faith Baptist Church and Tabernacle Baptist Bible study.  Since our services are staggered, we are hoping to use the church van for both our established church and our new church-planting effort.  We can imagine God using this van ministry to eventually double the size of our two Bamenda churches.  Please continue to pray for God’s blessing on this new ministry as you have fervently prayed for God’s provision of the van itself.

Our family is doing well.  Drew completed his first grade studies this past month, and both Kate and Emma can hardly wait to begin school next academic year.  Faith Ann’s vocabulary grows larger each day, and somehow she is the only child in our home who managed to avoid catching the chicken pox epidemic that swept through our house this month.  Thankfully everyone has or is recovering nicely.

We thank God for the souls saved this month, and we are so thankful for the spiritual maturity we have seen in others who are growing in the grace and knowledge of Jesus Christ.  We have created a six-month discipleship program for our churches, and we have seen tremendous interest and participation in this course.  Even believers who have been saved for several years have testified how much they have learned and grown through the weekly lessons.

Lord-I-give-myselfOur Sunday morning series through the book of Romans has also impacted many lives.  Last month we began preaching in Romans 12.  Several young people and adults stood during the invitation to publically present their bodies to God as a living sacrifice.  One semi-retired member commented, “thank you for your prayers for me to serve Him more and more as I am persuaded that it is for His service that He created me.”  After the message from Romans 12:1, I discovered this note in the offering container.

God is working here in Cameroon, and we thank you all for your faithful prayers and support!

All to the glory of God,
Ben, Becca, Drew, Kate, Emma, and Faith Ann Sinclai
