Dear Friends and Family,
It is hard to believe we are already writing our February update. It seems like we just celebrated the birthday of our Savior in 2006, and now we are well into 2007! Much has happene
d since our last update. Of course we packed our 13 bags, said goodbye to our sending church and family, and loaded our four children on the plane. Fifty-three hours after leaving our house in Chattanooga, we safely arrived home in Bambili, Cameroon.
We are thankful that the flights were mostly uneventful. We did come across a lady in Paris who seemed to be absolutely lost. It was clear that she did not know French and that she had no idea where she was going. I asked her if she needed help, and she began speaking to me in Pidgin, our local dialect here in the Northwest Province. She was completely shocked when I began to answer her and give her directions in Pidgin. We helped her to her flight (which was the same one as ours) and had a neat opportunity to share Christ with her along the way. We discovered that she lives about a 15-minute walk from our Bamenda Bible study, and she told us that she would be coming to meet with us. Please pray that this dear lady does come and that she believes the Gospel we shared with her.
The Yeiters did a tremendous work while we were away. We are so glad to meet some new faces and see new ministries started and growing for the glory of God. I cannot imagine pastoring two churches at once (including preaching, counseling, outreach, funerals, Bible institute, VBS, etc.), but the Yeiters have demonstrated the truth that “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me” (Philippians 4:13). We thank God for the tremendous coworkers He has allowed us to daily minister beside.
BIG NEWS! Many times we have asked you all to pray for the president’s approval of the Cameroon Bible Fellowship (or CBF) so that we can legally plant fundamental independent churches throughout Cameroon. Recently a Christian paralegal, who has been fait
hfully attending our Bamenda assembly, made us aware of the fact that since the approval of the CBF has already been signed by the Governor of our province we are legally free (in this province alone) to establish independent Baptist churches! We will begin preparations immediately for two charter services, one in Bamenda and one in Bambili! Lord willing, some time in March or April we will establish the first and only fundamental independent Baptist church in the one-million plus city of Bamenda! Thank you all so much for your faithful prayers and support that have led us to these exciting events!
Please continue praying for the presidential approval of the CBF. The other fundamental missionaries and church planters around the country are still regularly experiencing pressure and even persecution in some cases from local authorities. We do have some encouraging reports concerning the CBF
application, but we covet your prayers that God will do what only He can do through a government that normally functions only through bribes and corruption.
Thank you again to all of you who made our Christmas so special with gifts, cards, and extra financial support. We are privileged to have such a tremendous support team. By the way, we encourage all of you to visit our website today. It has been given a completely new look. www.cameroon4christ.com
