April 2007

    Dear Family and Friends, April1

Greetings from Bible Baptist Church of Bambili and Faith Baptist Church of Bamenda, Cameroon! We want to thank you all so much for your faithful prayers and support for our church-planting efforts here in Cameroon.  On Sunday, April 1, the two Bible studies we began more than two years ago commenced as official New Testament, local churches!  What a great day of rejoicing! Our field director and his wife, Steve and Martha Anderson, were with us for this special occasion.  We had about one hundred people present, and fourteen believers followed the Lord in biblical baptism! We wish you all could have been with us, because we realize that through your prayers and support you have all had a part in what took place on that day.

April2We began the day by renting a bus to bring all the believers from Bamenda to the church in Bambili. I preached the Gospel, and four people responded to the invitation at the end. Please pray especially for one man, Christopher, who raised his hand at the invitation. Pray that as we follow up with him, he will repent and receive Christ as his Savior.

After the first message, all the believers walked down to the river, and fourteen believers were baptized in the cold, rainy-season water. After the baptismal service, consisting of personal testimonies of salvation, the baptisms, and congregational singing, we all returned to the church house. Matt Yeiter preached a pertinent message to the believers who were about to form the new churches, and then the believers from each church lined up to sign their names to the charter membership rolls of Bible and Faith Baptist churches. Brother Steve Anderson followed this parade of charter members with a ten-minute challenge about the local church and its God-given design and purpose. From there we went outside to plant the brand new church sign in front of the church building. It was a long day, but a day of great rejoicing, thanksgiving, and praising God for the great things He has done!

Other highlights in ministry since our last update include the outreach coApril3nducted during Cameroon’s annual “Youth Day.” There were several professions of faith during soul winning and outreach and positive updates on the progress of the Cameroon Bible Fellowship’s approval progress.

Youth Day is an annual holiday in Cameroon.  Most students will march in a parade in front of their local government authorities, and these parades can last a few hours depending on the size of the county or city.  We made plans and organized teams to hand out tracts in four of these parade locations.  In just three hours time we shared the Gospel (in the form of tracts) with approximately 5,000 students and adults!

April4Please pray for “fruit that remains.”  Since our last update we have seen several professions of faith through our weekly outreach and soul winning. Didikus, Linda, Valerie, Theodore, Nester, Francis, David, and Stanley have all made professions of faith recently. But only one followed the Lord in believer’s baptism on Sunday. Pray that these people will remove any distractions or hindrances that are holding them back from following Christ.

Thank you again for your continued prayers for the Cameroon Bible Fellowship and its government approval and recognition.  As we stated in our latest prayer letter, we do not have hindrances to the ministry in our province, but the other fundamental churches and missionaries in other provinces of this country are experiencing pressure from their local authorities. We also cannot get missionary visas until the CBF has been signed into recognition by the president of Cameroon.  Thank you for your continued prayers to this end

Our family is doing well.  For the most part we have been blessed with good healtApril5h this year. Becca has been experiencing problems with lightheadedness and headaches again recently, but even when we had this examined in the States, a proper diagnosis was never made.  Please pray that God will remove this sporadic and unpredictable thorn in her flesh.

Our coworkers, the Yeiters, are expecting their fourth child in the month of October.  Susan Yeiter became very sick and had to return to the States. She and the children returned to America last month to seek better medical attention. Matt Yeiter is still serving here by himself and will soon return to meet up with family to begin their first furlough.

April6Our children miss the Yeiter children very much, but Drew is doing well in school. Kate loves sleeping on the top bunk of her new bunk bed.  Emma’s imagination has sprouted, and she is quick as a whip when it comes to memorizing the verse of the week.  She can memorize verses nearly as fast as Kate and Drew.  Faith Ann just got her first tooth last week, and while she cannot quite crawl yet, she is pulling herself up and around wherever she wants to go. Having four mobile and active children in the house has pushed us into a new realm of parenting. We appreciate your daily prayers for God’s supernatural wisdom in raising our children in the nurture and the admonition of the Lord.

I realize this update is longer than normal, but we had more to share this month than could possibly fit on just one page. Thank you all again for your faithful prayers and support.

    Cameroon for Christ,

Ben, Becca, Drew, Kate, Emma, and Faith Ann Sinclair
